A gallery of local butterflies

8 Aug

Over the past few months I have been photographing some of our local wildlife and, with the advent of some reasonable weather (i.e. it’s not raining all the time) a few more butterflies are out and about so I decided to post a gallery of local species – all taken within a mile of the village.

Geoff – great pictures! – there have certainly been good numbers of butterfiles to see the last few weeks and good to be able to put a few more names to what I am seeing.
I saw a beautiful male Redstart in one of the small woods on the far side of the Cliff Walk on 12th August – I wondered if they breed around here or maybe this was an early migrant…

Hi David, I did hear there were Redstarts breeding at Westonbirt – wil check that out. I will also be scouring the woods you mention to try and get a photo!!

    Some good shots there Geoff!
The Sherston Photography Forum is meeting at the village hall on Tuesday 11th September at 7.30pm. Good if you can make it
