Nuthatches in the woods – where else!!

Nuthatch in Grove Wood

Down in the woods today I came across a beautiful pair of Nuthatches feeding one another as they were moving from tree to tree. In woodland they aren’t easy to photograph (that’s my excuse..) but these seemed to come out OK from quite a few I took.

The name Nuthatch refers to the propensity of some species (of which our local birds are only one) to wedge a large insect or seed in a crack and hack at it with their strong bills.
